Run for a Charity

When you run for a charity, you're able to bring a whole new level of meaning and motivation to your training and experience on raceday.  The stories we've heard from the Miles for Magic runners and why they decided to run have been inspiring and many ran for different reasons.  Someone who has experience in a hospital while younger ran for the team because he remembered what it was like and wanted to be part of bring magic to other kids.  Another runner joined the team to honor a friend's son who struggled with illness.  Many others have run just to do something greater than themselves and run to not only reach a goal, but pay it forward, help others, and do something sick kids in hospitals.

Miles for Magic runners have written the names of kids they know who are struggling with illness on their arms or legs.  One woman dedicated running mile 20, running through her marathon wall, to a good friend's daughter who was dealing with illness.  She wanted to dedicate her toughest part of the race to something greater, to honor a friend.

For those who have run for a charity, some have also gained a sense of comradery with the rest of the team, with the organization and with the cause.

Run for a Charity:

You can Run Any Race & Any Location

The Miles for Magic team has had runners in Calgary, Boston, Indiana, San Francisco, Wisconsin and all over Illinois.  We even had someone sign up from the Cayman Islands.  You can join the team no matter where you live and run a marathon, half marathon or any race or competitive challenge and be part of the team and bring magic to kids.

Choose any event and join the team.

And we've had individuals of all experience levels sign up for the race as well.  From the ultramarathoner who ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon "as a practice run" to the newest beginner who qas signed up with his first 5K the next day, runners of all levels have joined the team and signed up for various races.  While we're all motivated by our own personal goals, when you run for a charity, it just seems to help runners get started with training for a new challenge and help them through the tough times on race day.

And when you run for a charity, you truly help the cause.

You gain a special connection to the charity bringing awareness to others.  Many are able to find out the specifics of how the organization operates, who is involved and how the organization will use the funds raised.

As a direct result of the Miles for Magic Program charity running team and the individual fund-raising from the team, Open Heart Magic has been able to expand to new hospitals.

We would love to have you running on the team to bring smiles to more kids in hospitals!
